Ok, so it seems to be the latest craze and all, but my move is because Blogger seems a little temperamental for me at present, so I've moved over to Wordpress.

Please come over & check out Turner's Antics on wordpress and let me know what you think of the design. It's a work in progress, but please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Excerpt

Some parts of my New York life were the same. The main thing being that my dear friends Lorna and Bradley were still a big part of my life. Charlie and I now lived in his stunning penthouse flat together in Brooklyn. By far, the best part about living there was waking up every morning in Charlie arms with the New York skyline surrounding us. I always felt as if I was home.

Luckily, I had seen nothing of the Field family; my mother made sure of that. I could only imagine what she must have said to them in their board meeting once we left our island. A few months later, I noticed the Fields lost a lot of stock in some unstable deal, which would have cost them dearly. I had a feeling my mother was making her point.

The only major change in New York was my high powered job and how much I loved it.

Charlie had been right, and I threw myself into making Headcom the best marketing front line company New York had ever seen. Contracts were coming in from all over the world. As the workload began to double, I took Lorna on as my Assistant Director. She almost squashed me to death in celebration.

“No way! Are you being serious?” she screeched as her long red hair danced frantically behind her back.

“Yes. I couldn’t think of anyone else I’d rather work with.”

“You do realise you don’t have to do this? I mean, I know you are grateful that I helped save you from the evil William Field and find your mother, but I did it because you are my friend. You don’t owe me anything.”

“I know that, silly,” I laughed. “I am doing this because you are the best. You have had input in every major contract we have gained. Lorna, you deserve this.”

“Thank you, Shan. I really don’t know what to say.” She wiped the tears from her deep brown eyes.

“Just say you and Bradley will come and celebrate at Charlie’s and mine tonight?”

“How could I refuse?” replied Lorna, catching me in another body crunching hug.

The four of us sat on the balcony watching the traffic glide across the Brooklyn Bridge. Dusk was slowly falling in the distance as we sat sipping our red wine.

“Did you watch the game last night?” Bradley asked Charlie.

“No, I was working late.”

“Did Forever America go for your ideas in your meeting yesterday?” Bradley remembered.

“Yeah. We have signed a six month contract.”

“Charlie, that’s wonderful!” Lorna beamed. “You never told me, Shan.”

“I was going to,” I replied, embarrassed that I had forgotten.

“I only told her this morning. Shannon has had an eventful week, promoting some annoying girl at work.” Charlie smiled at me, noticing the panic on my face. He could tell I felt guilty as he changed the topic.

“I am not annoying,” Lorna protested, looking at me. I just laughed.

“Are we all still up for the charity ball on Friday night?” I asked a few bottles of wine later.

“Of course,” Lorna replied, refilling our empty glasses.

“Have you sorted your dress?”

“Yeah, I went to Bloomingdales. They have the most amazing dresses. What about you, money bags?”

I rolled my eyes, grinning. Lorna was always so witty. “I have a dress but, no, I haven’t spent the price of a car on it.”

“Why not?” asked Bradley. “It’s not like you can’t afford it.”

“Shannon is still a secret, remember? It’s safer this way—for everyone,” Charlie replied, stroking my face. “She would be a target for so many people. Not to mention the press. Jennet wants her prepared for that before the announcement is made.”

I wasn’t really sure if I would ever totally prepare myself for that day. Maybe if I hadn’t witnessed what it felt like to be a daughter of a multi-billionaire with Megan, I wouldn’t fear it so much.

Megan had been used to her fame. She had grown up with it—loving the limelight and all the perks that came with it. Somehow, I knew it wouldn’t be that way for me. I would be a journalist’s dream story: Princess Rapunzel Returns!

Charlie feared how I would handle everything. He wanted to protect me, but he could only do so much.

My mother had her own ideas of protecting me. She had silenced all the witnesses on the beach the day Charlie rescued me, promising to bankrupt anyone who broke the confidentiality agreement—it appeared that most of them had been the Fields’ lawyers. Her protection, however, also included living on her ranch in Texas. I didn’t like the thought of being so far apart from Charlie, but I knew it was something I would have no choice but to consider at some point, because even he was telling me it was a good idea.

I sat playing with my empty mug, watching Charlie prepare dinner.

“You need to at least consider Texas, Shan. Your mother is right about the media circus,” he muttered, bringing Texas up yet again. This was the third time this week.

“But I want to stay with you!” I sobbed.

“I can stay with you at the ranch when I am not working. It really won’t be that bad,” he replied. “I mean, it’s safer for you. That’s the most important thing.”

“I thought us being together was?”

“But we are together. Just because we are apart, it doesn’t mean I love you any less.”

“I know. It’s just hard being away from you.”

“It’s only Texas, Sweetheart. I really think you need to consider it—just for a while.”

“Are you bored of me already?” I asked, suddenly worried. He was the most striking man in the world, after all. He could have had enough of me.

“You are so ridiculous sometimes,” he laughed, putting his hands through his deep brown hair as he was walking towards me.

“Why?” I asked. He still hadn’t answered my question.

Charlie sat next to me on one of our kitchen stools, taking my hand in his before he spoke. “I travelled across the world to save you, Shannon Downing, because I know I will never love anyone the way I love you. How the hell could you think I would ever get bored of you?”

He moved his head so our lips were just inches apart. I could feel my stomach burst just at our closeness as his blue-green eyes poured into mine.

“Well, if you put it that way,” I replied, overcome by his words.

“You, Miss Downing, need to realise the worst is over. It’s only happy times ahead for us now. We have already found each other. All we have left to do is enjoy it.”

“I can live with that,” I whispered as Charlie’s soft lips pressed tenderly against mine.

I knew he was right, but all my life, when things were going right, something bad was always lurking around a corner. That was my old life, though. Surely things were different now.

BOOK BLITZ: Undressed by Avery Aster

Today I helping blitz Undressed by Avery Aster, check it out below and a giveaway.

Undressed (The Manhattanites #1) by Avery Aster
Released: 15th February 2013
Genre: Erotica Romance

Content Warning: due to graphic sex scenes, strong language, suggestive themes, mature humor, and just about everything your mother ever told you not to do–including wearing a see-through dress, this novel is for adults only.

Milan’s notorious playboy, Massimo Tittoni, seems to have everything–Lamborghinis, exotic women, palaces throughout Europe and business success. Ramping up his fabric company to go global with a new apparel brand, he ruthlessly stops supplying fabrics to the American client who inspired the collection. But once they meet, what’s he willing to give to get her in his bed?

Upper East Side designer Lex Easton will be damned if she’ll let an Italian stud muffin knock her down. So what if she named her favorite vibrator after him. With Fashion Week approaching, she’ll do whatever it takes to secure the fabrics she needs to become the next Diane von Furstenburg– even sleep with her rival. But when she arrives in Europe the paparazzi chronicles her every move and she finds herself in a situation never imagined. Lex’s Louboutins stilettos are dug in deep to win this war. All’s fair in love and fashion!

Avery Aster’s super-glossy debut novel is loaded with passionate escapism, pitting American ambition against Italian tradition. Erotic romance fans who appreciate extended sex scenes, witty banter and glamour mustn’t miss Undressed.

Inside Scoop: Though the hero and heroine remain monogamous, their Prada-wearing friends indulge in a ménage a trois and other fashionable sexual fun and games.

About the Manhattanites:

It’s a series of full length novels focusing on relationships. Each book may be read as a stand alone and features a HEA w/ closure for the couple’s story. If you’ve enjoyed TV shows like Girls (HBO), Dirty Sexy Money (ABC), and The Bold & the Beautiful (CBS) then you’ll love this series. Avery’s characters are over the top. They have raunchy sex, speak their minds and the plots are twisted. (In a good way!)

Excerpt

*set-up: Lex Easton is meeting Massimo Tittoni for the first time. Desperate for the fabrics, she has shown up at his summer estate to try and secure them before Fashion Week starts.

Distracted by a strawberry he brought to his mouth, the prince didn’t notice her. But she saw him, those perfect, sensual, full lips and the way his tongue slid out to catch the berry. He popped it in his mouth. Incredible.

Holding her breath, Lex stepped closer, right up to the hedonistic hearth. Why did the sunshine spotlight on her center stage? No monologue prepared, she didn’t think about what she’d say in a situation such as this one. Lex felt sensory overload. It would take every ounce left in her to stay focused on the Easton business at hand, not the Tittoni pleasure around her. Calm your kitty.

At last, the Adonis glanced up and dropped another ruby fruit’s helping into his mouth. He stood, wrapping a Turkish towel around his narrow hips. The white cotton stretched similar to canvas, ready for a Grecian painter to color something fantastic. “Sì è persa?” he asked as he approached her.

Holy Coco Chanel! Okay, hotter in person than she’d seen in the tabloid photos or blogs—her dildo fantasies couldn’t have imagined—and she’d tried her best. But she’d come here to get her fabrics. She didn’t have time for Mediterranean sunbathing. Her boat would be on the dock in less than an hour and she needed her textiles.

“You must be Prince Massimo Tittoni,” she responded in English. She felt her cheeks tingle with a spark. Excitement waved as heat ran down her breasts, stopping at her pussy. A fierce siren intensified, one which made her want to reach down and touch her clit. She crossed her legs while standing, hoping, praying he’d be clueless as to why.

“Sì. And you’re the fashion designer—” His attempt to tuck in the towel failed and it became loose, revealing his massive cock’s shape. It was decorated with a mighty helmet head for the tip—confirmation the blog’s photos, indeed, were real.

Moist legs clenching tighter, she rolled her shoulders back, raw arousal soaking her panties. Not wishing to make her admiration obvious, Lex focused on his dark eyes. She inhaled a shallow breath and walked forward.

“I’m Lex Easton with Easton Essentials in New York.”

Deep grooves spread across his forehead as he proclaimed, “When we spoke on the phone, I thought you were Signor Easton’s assistant. Today when Roberto announced your arrival, I learned you were Signorina Easton. Our phone call became inaudible.”

Assistant, my ass. “Lex is short for Alexandra and yes, it was me with whom you spoke. I’m the company’s owner.”

Massimo paused then continued, “You were instructed to stay in your villa until dinner, were you not?”

“Yes, I’m sorry, Your Majesty, but I couldn’t wait. It’s imperative we speak. Please afford me a minute,” Lex begged. Balling her hands into fists in an attempt to control her nerves, she became conscious that visiting Isola di Girasoli might be in vain. From his vantage point, she must’ve appeared to be a maniac to have interrupted his vacation.

The prince put his hands on his hips. Beneath the towel, his groin became more visible.

Is he getting an erection? Hmmm. Lex tried her best not to stare, let alone lick her lips, though her throat felt dry. “I’m here for the day,” she added, hoping to persuade him to speed this up by giving him a deadline. “I’m heading back to Sicily tonight, flying up to Milan for an event tomorrow.”

Stepping closer, his large frame overshadowed hers as he spoke, “Lex has it all planned out, guys.” Massimo gave Luigi and his angels a nod to listen and mocked, “Happy we could oblige you on this Italiano fashion tour. Giorgio Armani has a casa a few islands up. You may wish to interrupt his holiday too. Have at it.” His sharp jaw clenched and his eyes narrowed.

Touché, Tittoni. Hard to remain coherent when close to him, he seemed massive in proportions, including muscle, cock, ego and sarcasm. Swallowing air to sober her response, she answered, “Yes, as soon as we finish here. I’ll be on my way.”

He chuckled in mockery. “Lex, there is no boat service until Thursday. The captain comes twice a week. You will have to stay two nights—unless you can swim back to the mainland. It’s a far distance, even for an athlete.” He studied her up and down and added, “Which you are not.”

What an asshole. “No, and I don’t pretend to be. Still, I can’t stay. I’ll call a water taxi if I miss the boat.” According to her watch, she was not going to make it.

Massimo’s deep laugh bounced off the pool’s concrete encasement. The girls, now dressed, waited behind him with Luigi. To be dismissed? “The boat has been on the same schedule for more than fifty years and cannot change course to meet your demands.”

The women shifted, growing restless, and the prince turned. “Ladies, Luigi’s getting bored. Get back in the pool.”

He took Lex’s hand.

Ohhhhh my.

His demonstrative touch became warm and strong and confirmed in an instant her entire body wanted him.

Not today. No way. No how. Her brain on the other hand told her to knock it off.

“You and I are getting off to a bad start,” Massimo acknowledged. “It is a pleasure to meet such an accomplished designer. Please accept my apology and stay for dinner.”

“Huh?”

“We will discuss Easton Essentials over a nice meal.” His playful fingers touched hers, and Lex became compelled to jump in her Jimmy Choos. But she didn’t.

You’re finger-fucking my palm. You hot pig. But she stood her ground.

He flirted with her to stay the night.

She wasn’t blind and she never played stupid.

What other option spoke to her? Get naked and jump into the pool with Luigi’s girls? Three against one, she didn’t have a chance. But the prince didn’t pay them much mind.

No matter. Lex must keep this professional. She couldn’t backstroke to Sicily.

“Fine, I’ll return to the villa. See you this evening.” It was difficult to take her eyes off him as she dipped her head in parting, letting his grip go.

“And, Signorina Easton, please dress for dinner.” His mouth twisted into a grin as he sized her up. Dropping the lingering towel, he leapt headfirst into the water. Massimo did a perfect dive, no splash, not even a ripple.

But his plunge wasn’t what impressed Lex.

Dee pulled out another notebook from his bag and tossed it to me. "Write the lyrics."
I look at the empty notebook and Dee's tattered one that's full of ideas and marks and don't know where to start. I try not to think about it too much as I grab a pen and write out the music best I can. It's already there, I just have to translate it into something coherent. But, when it comes to the words, I see what Dee's written and it could be a song for me. No wonder he wants me to change it. He wants the song to be from me, instead. My side of the story.
The couch dipped next to me and Dee stuck his head over my shoulder to see what I'm writing. I pressed the notebook into my chest and he tried to snatch it away.
"Hey," I cried. "I like you and all Dee, but stop trying to feel me up."
His lips curved into a sly smile and he knew that I was onto him and for once I don't argue.
"What are we gunna call ourselves?" Frank asked. Before Chris could open his mouth he added, "No ideas accepted form Chris."
"Why not?” he grumbled.
"We're not into Morrissey," Dee laughed.
"I think Empty Hands is a good name for an indie band," I said kindly.
"Thanks, Zoe," Chris smiled and tapped his bottle against mine.
"We're not a pansy mopey indie band," Frank said and beat on his chest. "I want to beat the shit outta those skins, for one. I'm too manly to get in touch with my feminine side."
Dee's watching me with a frown and I realize I've been running a finger along the scar on my arm.
"Tattoo," he said, his eyes meeting mine.
"What?" I jumped and tucked my hands under my legs.
"Tattoo," he said again and I could almost see the light bulb over his head. "The Devil's Tattoo."
As soon as he says it, I knew he wanted to name the band after me. I can't help but wonder who the devil is meant to be. The devil scarred my arm and I covered it with a tattoo.
"Dee," I began to scold him.
"Bloody LOVE IT," Frank shouted, on his feet.
"It's not like that, Zoe," Dee whispered in my ear. "You're my phoenix from the ashes. You're my version of the devil, babe."
It sounded like he was declaring his love for me and in a way he was, but not like that. Dee's my brother. Dee's my family.
I smiled at him. "The Devil's Tattoo."
"All in favor?" Dee asked, but it's already been decided.
"Hell yeah!" everyone shouted, and it's done.

Prologue

I wasn’t alone in the dark.

Snarls and growls surrounded me, running my blood cold. I moved my head from side to side, scrunching my eyes, trying desperately to catch sight of the beasts before they reached me. My crimson swords weighed so heavily in my hands that I felt as if I’d been fighting for what seemed like eternity.

Claws and fangs suddenly slashed out from the darkness and I did my best to defend myself, though in my heart I knew it was a losing battle. The beasts were overpowering me and soon I wouldn’t be able to stop them. No one was coming to save me. I was alone.

Talons slashed across my back and warm blood trickled down as pain shot across my spine. I stumbled and the beasts—I was sure—tasted victory. They moved in at me in waves. I spun my blades trying to battle the never-ending tide, trying to survive.

It was hopeless. For every monster I took down, another two took its place. I wanted to live, I wanted to fight, but the agonizing pain of my flesh being torn and sliced was too great to bear. I couldn’t go on. The jaws of one of the beasts clamped on my wrist, and I lost my grip on one of my swords. It fell from my hand and clattered to the ground and with it went my last vestige of hope.

Blood drained from my body and my vision faded. I would soon black out, and then the beasts would feast on me. A scream bubbled in my throat and my mouth fell open, but no sounds came out. I closed my eyes, not wanting to see my own death and hoped that darkness would take me before the beasts did.

I bolted out of bed, my mouth still open in a silent scream, and my sheets tangled around me soaked with sweat. I stood at the foot of my bed, my breathing coming in ragged gasps. The nightmares came almost every night. I couldn’t escape them no matter how hard I tried. I yanked at the sheets, dragging them off me and tossing them back onto the bed. I’d worn only an old t-shirt to bed, though now I wished I had worn more. I didn’t want to see my scars, didn’t want to be reminded yet again, but I couldn’t stop my fingers from tracing over the ugly scars that marked my arms and upper torso.

I walked from the top floor of my loft, down the stainless steel steps to the kitchen area. I yanked open the fridge and grabbed the container of milk and took a gulp. I placed it back in the fridge and slammed the door closed. I slipped down onto the couch that faced the large windows dotting the walls of my loft and sighed at the breathtaking view of Paris. It always calmed me. My fingers mindlessly drifted over the scars on my arms. They were a reminder of the very real night I had been trapped in a nearly unwinnable fight. Monsters had surrounded me and had almost killed me. If it hadn’t been for my friends, I would have died.

But I hadn’t died, or had I? I was far from the girl I had once been. Once I was the prettiest girl in school, and the girl who had hit every club and had had a blast when she had moved to Paris. But after the vicious attack everything had changed, most of all me.

My fingers suddenly stopped, settling on the edges of identical tattoos on both my forearms. I glanced down at the image of a Skeleton Key. My scars refused to cross paths with the tattoos, as if they knew that they dared not go near them.

I slid my finger over the tattoo, and felt a buzz of power run through me. These unwanted tattoos were another reminder of something else entirely. But unlike my scars, I had chosen these.

The monsters may not have gotten me, but these tattoos were a different matter. They marked me for death.

I pulled my knees up into my chest and took a deep breath. Maybe I would wait here until dawn. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about any more nightmares or death that constantly stalked me.

I sat alone in the dark looking out on the City of Lights, awaiting the dawn and praying that I could keep death at bay and that I wouldn’t hear the sound of monsters.

Author: Julie Kagawa
Publisher: Harlequin Australia
Release Date: 30th April 2013
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Fantasy
Format: eBook
Source: Publisher via NetGalley and also purchased

**Please note: there may be spoilers for The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)**

This is another fantastic instalment from Ms Kagawa in the Blood of Eden series. The Eternity Cure is a full on adventure and Allie is a fantastic character. As with all of Ms Kagawa’s books, I love the writing style, so easy to read and addictive and this one is no exception to that rule.

Allie survived her meeting with her blood brother, Jackal and is now having nightmares when she sleeps, but they aren’t true nightmares, they are visions of what Kanin is enduring while in the evil hands of Sarren. Allie can feel the pull of her Sire and after leaving Zeke, she is now determined to find Kanin and rescue him from the torturing hands of Sarren.

Following the pull between them, Allie travels surviving off thugs and baddies that she finds along the way. The pull is taking Allie to Old D.C. and once she gets inside the fences, she doesn’t find Kanin waiting for her, but somebody that she thought she left behind. They form a pact and decide to call a truce to their fighting, wanting to find Kanin together and discover a cure for Rabidism. Allie decides not to trust him, but figures two is better than one when confronting the likes of Sarren.

After a close call with the Rabids in Old D.C., the pair travels back to where it all began, New Covington. Allie is a little apprehensive of returning to where she was born twice and doesn’t really want to go back.

Following protocol and trying to be good vampires, they go to check in with the Prince of New Covington. Finding that things have changed, the Fringe is no longer safe to humans or vampires. It appears a new strain of the virus has been released and is creating a new version of rabids, bleeders. These crazy psychotic humans tear their own flesh and try to eat anything they can catch before dying. Having to go underground, they find a guide through the sewers and into the City to see the Prince.

Allie cannot be sure who to trust anymore, can she really trust the Prince even though they both want the same thing? Finding betrayal in the Prince’s tower and love, Allie doesn’t know what she will do, but the only thing she does know is that a cure must be found to stop the bleeders virus from spreading. With no humans, the vampire race cannot survive either.

Will they find a cure for rabidism or the bleeders? Does one really exist? Can Allie find Kanin and stop Sarren from destroying him for good? Can a vampire have a broken heart? What will the next adventure be for Allie?

I really enjoyed the twists and the unexpected turns along Allie’s journey. She really did mature in this one and learned from some of her mistakes, but the biggest lesson of all is to come. She had so many questions that she hasn’t gotten the answers to; she was a little annoying about her feelings and the indecision, but I still love her. Allie has such an attitude and I love her cheekiness when she tries to talk herself out of situations. I cannot wait to read book 3, The Forever Song that will come out next year (a whole year to wait, aarrrggghh!)

About the Author

Julie Kagawa, the New York Times bestselling author of the Iron Fey and Blood of Eden series was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos, and frequent hurricanes. She spent much of her time in the ocean, when she wasn’t getting chased out of it by reef sharks, jellyfish, and the odd eel.

When not swimming for her life, Julie immersed herself in books, often to the chagrin of her schoolteachers, who would find she hid novels behind her Math textbooks during class. Her love of reading led her to pen some very dark and gruesome stories, complete with colored illustrations, to shock her hapless teachers. The gory tales faded with time, but the passion for writing remained, long after she graduated and was supposed to get a real job.

To pay the rent, Julie worked in different bookstores over the years, but discovered the managers frowned upon her reading the books she was supposed to be shelving. So she turned to her other passion: training animals. She worked as a professional dogtrainer for several years, dodging Chihuahua bites and overly enthusiastic Labradors, until her first book sold and she stopped training to write full time.

Julie now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where the frequency of shark attacks are at an all time low. She lives with her husband, two obnoxious cats, one Australian Shepherd who is too smart for his own good, and the latest addition, a hyper-active Papillon.

Ruin (A Summer in Winter Novel #1) by C.J. Scott
Release Date: August 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Kate Bell isn't perfect. Not even close. The things she got up to in college would cause her parents to fall off their pedestals in shock. Home for the summer vacation, Kate settles in for a long, boring break in the tiny backwater of Winter with folks who still treat her like she's twelve.

Then Ben Parker arrives and suddenly Winter gets interesting. He's hot, mysterious and good with his hands. Kate falls for him instantly, but her cop father warns her to stay away. But how can she stay away from someone as compelling as Ben? Someone who thinks she's perfect just the way she is?

When Ben's secrets catch up to him, not only is Kate's heart in danger of being broken, but Ben's entire future could be ruined.

RUIN is a new adult contemporary romance intended for mature readers. It contains strong language and sexual situations.

About the Author

C.J. loves reading stories that take her away to another world. If she’s in the middle of an amazing book, she’ll keep reading while cooking or cleaning (when she can be bothered doing either).

She likes interesting artwork but can’t paint, sketch or make anything more complicated than a snowman from plasticine. She enjoys beautiful gardens but hates gardening. She also hates housework, cooking (see above) and writing about herself.

C.J. loves connecting with readers. The best place to interact with her and other fans is via her Facebook page. That’s where she posts teasers and other stuff from her books.
