Book Review: Flutter (My Blood Approves #3) by Amanda Hocking

Goodreads: "Flutter - the third book in the My Blood Approves series...

Being undead doesn't make life any easier for Alice Bonham.

Her younger brother's love life is heating up, while hers is... more complicated. Mae is falling apart, her best friend Jane is addicted to vampire bites, and if Alice doesn't get her bloodlust under control, someone will end up dead.

Alice volunteers for a rescue mission with Ezra. But going up against a pack of rabid vampires might be too much, even for him."

Flutter (My Blood Approves, #3)

Fantastic follow on from Fate, number 2 in the My Blood Approves series.  Another addictive page turner that I couldn't put down.

This one follows Alice still in her love triangle with Jack & Peter.  She knows her heart is all for Jack, but she can't seem to get Peter out of her system.  After she was turned, Peter ran away, just disappeared.  Everybody seemed OK with this & let Alice come to terms with her new body & self-control.

News came from afar that Peter was getting himself in trouble.  Peter decided if he couldn't have Alice, we would end his life & went on a suicide mission.  Alice couldn't live with herself if he died because of her.  She went along with Ezra to bring him home.  They encounter a pack of rogue vampires, called Lycans.  Ezra traded Peter for himself in order to keep them safe.  They all made it home, but to only be tracked down by the pack later on.

Milo & his new boyfriend went out & found Jane (Alice's best human friend) has become addicted to being bitten.  They try to save her twice, even bringing her home to recover, only to find her going back to her old ways.  Jane gets used as bait to bring the family out for a war between the Lycan pack & the Townsend family.

Mae has her own problems going on & her great-granddaughter has become terminally ill with cancer.  Ezra gives Mae an ultimatum, that if she turns her great-granddaughter, they are over & Mae has to leave.  What will Mae do??

I rated this one of course a 5star as well.  This was another wonderful read & highly recommended.  Amanda Hocking is certainly talented to create such and addictive series.  The final book in the series is Wisdom.

Book Review: Fate (My Blood Approves #2) by Amanda Hocking

"Alice Bonham thinks she's finally found a balance in her life between the supernatural and real life with her brother Milo. Jack - her sorta vampire boyfriend - keeps her at arm's length to keep her safe. As for his brother Peter... she's not sure where he's at, or what he wants with her. Worse still, she's not even sure what she wants with Peter.

When tragedy happens, Alice finds herself struggling with a terrible choice. Her decision has consequences that reach farther than she'd ever imagined..."

Fate (My Blood Approves, #2)

Well, this was absolutely wonderful.  Completely followed on from My Blood Approves (#1) & another addictive read that I couldn't put down.  Amanda Hocking you are a genius!!

Alice is a teenage girl going through some major heart issues.  She is in love with a vampire, Jack who doesn't want to get too close in case he hurts her.  But she is also drawn to his brother Peter through their blood connection.  Who does she choose?  Peter has disappeared after almost killing Alice & nobody knows if he will return.  Alice thinks she has a reprieve & spends all her time falling further in love with Jack.

Milo, Alice's brother, goes through a transformation of his own & Alice is jealous that he is spending more time with Jack than she can.  Jack decides to get them all out of the house & takes Alice & Milo to a vampire club.  Alice attracts a lot of unwanted attention & causes a fight with a bloke named Lucian.  Lucian, also a vampire of course, only wants Alice's blood.  They escape fairly unharmed & that's the end of that idea.

Since Peter has disappeared, Jack is helping his older brother, Ezra, with the daily operations of their business.  Jack has gone out of town, so Milo takes it upon himself to cheer up Alice & meet up with her friend Jane at a normal club.  While Jane & Milo are dancing up a storm in the club, Alice is hiding in the shadows & is discovered by none other than Lucian & Violet.  There is a chase & they get to the car only to have another fight.  Milo is bitten by Lucian & loses a lot of blood.  Jane is horrified & doesn't know what to think, while Alice is just concerned about her brothers bloodlust.  Milo can't stand it any longer & bites Jane to replenish himself.  They all get home safely in the end, but Alice has lost her friend because Jane won't believe what has happened.

Jack relents & bites Alice.  This could potentially kill them both.  Luckily Peter is not around, or is he?  One night he appears in Alice's bedroom & she doesn't know if he is real or a dream.  Peter bites Alice & discovers the secret.

Alice goes looking for Jane at a party & walks out alone.  She is on her way home when Lucian & Violet track her down.  Peter ends up saving her life. They go back to Peter's & start kissing when Jack appears & attacks Peter.  Jack drags Alice back into their den & decides to turn her.

What happens next, nobody knows until you read the next installment, Flutter.  A perfect ending & a great start for Flutter.

I gave this a rating of 5stars as well.  It was very addictive & the story was fantastic.  Turns in Alice's journey surprise you, but they are perfectly right.  Highly recommended!!

Book Review: My Blood Approves by Amanda Hocking

"Teenager Alice Bonham's life feels crazy after she meets Jack. With his fondness for pink Chuck Taylors and New Wave, he's unlike anyone she knows. Then she meets his brother, Peter. Even though he can't stand the sight of her, she's drawn to him. Falling for two guys isn't even the worst of her problems. Jack and Peter are vampires, and Alice finds herself caught between love and her own blood"

My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1)

I absolutely loved this book.  It was amazing & completely addictive.  I couldn't stop reading & had to abandon my chores in order to follow Alice along her journey.

This follows Alice, an ordinary 16 year old girl.  She finds herself in trouble & to her astonishment a boy comes to her rescue.  Jack saves her life from a bunch of boys that were going to attack her & then they find themselves "bonded" to each other.  From this day forward, they can't spend a day without seeing each other.  Jack is very cryptic & won't exactly tell Alice about himself.  His winning line is "it's complicated".  This frustrates Alice to no end & she keeps pestering him for answers.

Alice meets Jacks family & discovers they are perfect in every way.  She meets his younger (?) brother Peter & has an instant uncontrollable painful attraction towards him.  Peter refuses to accept his feelings for Alice. Plus Jack is in love with Alice too.

There is a huge issue with Alice & her brother Milo.  Milo is worried about Alice spending too much time with Jack & forgetting about her school work.  Alice is only concerned with Jack, his family & finding out their secret.  Milo has a secret of his own & Alice confronts him as well, but this only brings them closer together.

This is of course a 5star rating & I had to start Fate (My Blood Approves #2) straight after to find out what happens next.  Highly recommend this to everyone!!

Book Review: Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead

"Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus.which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she's been so wicked that Seattle's uber-demon Jerome, decides to 'outsource' Georgina to a rival - and have her spy for him in the process. Being exiled to the frozen north - okay, Vancouver - and leaving Seth in the cosy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there's nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth - nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who's been playing them - or all hell will break loose."

Succubus Heat (Georgina Kincaid, #4)

Another fantastic Georgina Kincaid book from Richelle Mead.  This is number 4 in the series & I thought this one was better than the last 3.

This one follows Georgina being lent to another archdemon in Canada because she has been misbehaving & having an attitude problem.  She has to infiltrate a cult & disband it.  Georgina made some friends along the way, but she wasn't sure if she could trust them at first.  Georgina found it very hard to trust anybody after her boss disappears & she is the only one who wants to find him.

This book was full of intrigue & action packed.  The love scenes weren't as frequent in this one, but the story was full on it didn't matter. I really felt for Georgina in this one because she is in love with somebody she can't have & shouldn't be with, but that doesn't stop her from making love with him.  She is seeing somebody none of her friends like (Dante) & he turns out to betray her.  Will Georgina ever find a happy ending & with the man she loves?

Georgina finds help finding her boss from a very unexpected source.  Roman, her boyfriend returns & poor Georgina doesn't know if she can trust him.  Will he try to kill her?  Will he try to kill her boss or friends? Do they still have feelings for each other?  Georgina has a lot of questions she needs to answer.

The ending was a huge cliffhanger & I cannot wait to read Succubus Shadows to see what is in store for Georgina.  Is she pregnant?  Was the dream Nyx sent her real? She has after all found the cat that was in the dreams.....

I gave this one a 4star rating.  It is of course another fantastic read from Richelle Mead.

Book Review: Ill Wind by Rachel Caine

Ill Wind

I loved this book.  Rachel Caine must have had a fun time researching this one.  All the meteorological terms & how to tell what the clouds, air & temperatures are doing. The changes, how to interpret them & what causes storms.  I found this an amazing feat!

Because of all of these terms, it was a little confusing at first but worked out well in the end.  This book was different because the actual story behind Joanne's running wasn't fully explained until the middle of the book. It did keep me turning the pages & wanting to read more to find out what had happened, so loved that aspect.

It was fully action packed, had love & love scenes as well, but it was intriguing & mysterious.  The culprit behind the lightning strikes & weather changes was not whom I expected (which is always good in a book, if you ask me).  I did like this & the ending was also something I didn't expect either.

Of course this is a happy ending book, just in a different way.  I hope I have intrigued you & that you'll read this book.  I give it a 4star rating, it was overall an awesome read.

Some Weather Wardens control fire, others control earth, water, or wind - and the most powerful can control more than one element. Without Wardens, Mother Nature would wipe humanity off the face of the earth...
Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden. Usually, all it takes is a wave of her hand to tame the most violent weather. But now Joanne is trying to outrun another kind of storm: accusations of corruption and murder. So she's resorting to the very human tactic of running for her life.
Her only hope is Lewis, the most powerful Warden. Unfortunately, he's also on the run having stolen not one but three bottles of Djinn - making him the most wanted man on earth. Still, Joanne and her classic Mustang are racing hard to find him - because there's some bad weather closing in fast...

Turner's Antics - Funny Friday #2

What a week! It is so very hard when your children have a cold & are miserable.  This only makes life harder to everybody in the family, but especially Mum.  Had a very trying week due to the colds of the children, but William still attended Kindergarten because it was the last week before school holidays.  His last session was a end of term party & the theme was Pyjama Party/Teddy Bear's Picnic.  Of course like a lot of children at the moment, William's favourite characters are from Toy Story, so he wore his Toy Story pyjamas & took Woody for his show & tell.  He was extremely excited about the whole thing, of course to show off his toy, but also to eat all the junk food.  There was a bear hunt, performed by their teacher, which all the children enjoyed & sang along.  Emily wasn't left out either, she enjoyed eating the food as well.

This is William dressed in all his glory, wearing his pyjamas & dressing gown, enjoying some party pies & sausage rolls.

Last weekend, we went for a drive to the beach.  Our children haven't seen the beach before & we thought it would be a great experience for them & us.  Both love playing with sand & I didn't really think they would be afraid.  Well, was I wrong - William was frightened of the water coming into shore.  Emily love the whole thing & didn't want to leave.  So this weekend, Daddy mentioned to William that he would take him fishing.  Oh my goodness, a 3 year old is persistent & doesn't forget.  All week William has been asking about going fishing, when Dad, when Dad??  So his Daddy better take him this weekend or we'll never hear the end of it.  LOL!

Please stay tuned for my next post, no doubt I will have some Turner's Antics about the fishing trip.
